This establishment is near and dear to my family for many reasons. We don’t live in the area, but our grandpa has land a couple of blocks from the waterpark. I remember when my grandpa and grandma went up to Sheridan to cut grass and told us that they were building a waterpark and showed us a brochure. We couldn’t wait for it to open.
Our first time going it was so nice because we were able to bring in our own food and drinks and my mom always packs for an army (she still does). The lazy river was so relaxing, there were only 2 slides (the red and blue tunnel), the children's play area was the mushroom and small slide where the mushroom is located, and the wave pool was the section in front of where the DJ use to play. We enjoyed going there all the time and would make many trips throughout the summer. My grandpa would load all of us up in the back of his pickup truck and drop us off and when the park was closing, we would load back up and head to the property. My dad would BBQ, make a firepit for s’mores and us cousins would play hide and seek in the dark. We always had so much fun.
Throughout the years we have had the pleasure of watching the waterpark grow into what it is today. Now I have my own family and I get to enjoy the waterpark with my husband and three beautiful kids. We have been taking our kids there since they each were 1 year old, and they absolutely enjoy it. Our oldest daughter is 8 years old and she always wants her birthday there. The cabins and cottages that are available for rent are so convenient because when we get everyone together we are a large family so renting the cabin makes sense for us. Outside the cabins and cottages there is a pit that allows you to BBQ or use it to make s’mores (our kids favorite). Being a camper on their facility allows you to be a part of activities. They have arts and crafts, live music, movie nights, playground area, volleyball, horse shoes, large chess board and kayaking. They also have the campground office where you can purchase merchandise, a refreshing cup of dippin dots or slushy. On the backside of the office is an area for putt putt golf and laser tag, which are so much fun. Something that has been recently added to the grounds is a security gate, that’s right Splashway cares about your safety and wants to ensure only the campers get to participate in these activities and enjoy their experience fully.
At the waterpark they have plenty of seating which some is first come first serve. They also have cabanas around the pools that are for rent. They do still allow you to bring your own food or drinks, which is convenient. Although, sometimes we will do day trips and just pack drinks so we can get food from the concession stand. My kids LOVE their cheese sticks. They offer such a large variety of food from burgers, pizza, nachos and now seafood on certain days. Their sweets are dippin dots and funnel cakes (they are both delicious). Also, if you have babies or toddlers that use floats find an employee and they will take it to get blown up for you. There are so many different areas of the waterpark that you will never get bored. They have a large wave pool, multiple slides for kids and adults, toddler section that has lounge chairs and a lazyriver. Ray also comes out and takes pictures with the kids and does the cupid shuffle with them and some of the employees. There are a couple of things that makes Splashway unique to other places. One, they are faith based. On Sunday they don’t open until noon, which allows employees to attend church. The employees do prayer before their shift as a team (get in the park a little early and you will see). Christian music is played all day and they offer Church and Bible School for campers at 10:30 a.m. by the stage. Next, they support their troops. Every time they are open at 1 p.m. they ask everyone to stand, remove their hats and face the flag for the National Anthem. They are appreciative of everyone who has served or is serving our country. My husband is a Veteran so he is very appreciative that they take the time to do that.
Needless to say, Splashway is the perfect place to have fun with your family. Being season pass holders for many years now, we have never wanted to go to another establishment because here your family. To finish this off there is one more perk to staying at Splashway. Who doesn’t love donuts? There is an amazing donut establishment called K&B Donuts across the street from Splashway and their donuts and coffee are so good. My personal favorite is the cinnamon twist, my kids love the donuts with sprinkles and my husband loves the lemon filled donut. When we stay overnight we usually go there the morning we are headed home.
Come visit Splashway and stay at the campgrounds, you won’t be disappointed!!!
**Also, if your only wanting to stay for one night or if the campgrounds are full there is another alternative, Hotel Texas. Join me in my next segment and I will tell you all about it.
