I have been a stay at home mom since Gabriella was born in October of 2017. I worked part time for a few months, but I have mostly, and gratefully, been home with her. Even though I have yet to be a full time working momma, I previously had a full-time job where I prepped and planned my meals. I hope to share helpful tips and encouragement for both the stay at home moms, and the full time working moms to make healthy lifestyle choices. I start my first year as a teacher next month, so I will be sharing as I figure things out for my self and get in a good routine.
I will say, planning in advance is a huge part of success when it comes to making healthy choices. Once I come home from the store, I LOVE to organize it in the fridge or pantry. Making the food easily accessible, for example, washing and cutting your fruit, portioning snacks into smaller, ready to grab bags, and even taking bulk meat and portioning it into serving sizes to be frozen (those who don’t cook for a large family know what I’m talking about). Some may be familiar with the phrase, “Failing to plan is planning to fail”. This is such a true statement. Nine times out of ten, when I make an unhealthy meal choice, it’s because I did not plan for that meal. As a stay at home mom, I was able to get away with not planning all the time, and still get away with making decent choices. However, when I start working full time again I will not be able to get away with that. I will need to plan for the week, grocery shop, and have our meals planned out, especially lunches and snacks so I can pack them quickly in the morning. When I say “our”, I am referring to Daniel, Gabriella, and myself. If I fail to pack lunches, we will be forced to eat out, which probably would not end up being a healthy choice. We would also be spending more unnecessary money that we already spent buying groceries with. So, without beating a dead horse, I hope you were able to take away the point I was emphasizing, PLAN AHEAD.
