This evening, let's discuss being new parents, but also keeping your identity as a couple.
Since having Gabriella (almost a year ago!), our date nights and weekend getaways have been few and far between. Up until our wedding night in August, we had never spent a night away from her. As she is getting older, we have become more comfortable with asking one of our parents to watch her for an evening while we have a date night, and even built up to going to Austin this weekend for the Longhorn game! At first we were going to go Friday, and come back Sunday and really enjoy ourselves (like the mini honeymoon we didn't have), but we decided going up Saturday and coming back Sunday would be long enough for now <3 Recently we have realized how important carving out time for ourselves really is. We are excited to relive my college days and reminisce on the weekends we would spend together in Austin when I was in college. We will be going to the game with Daniel's cousin and his girlfriend, who are a lot of fun to be around. However, I think the part I am most looking forward to is a good nights sleep, with no interruptions, and not being woken up at 7am LOL.
While we love our baby, and do not plan on being away from her every weekend, we do hope to plan more time for ourselves and keep our identity as a couple as well as the parents we have become.
