I got sick Sunday, and had to take my first day off work Monday as I was still not feeling well. I did not think I would have to get a substitute so soon, but life happens. I hate missing work, as I feel it is more work when you come back! Plus, that's a whole day I lose teaching my kids. That might not seem like a big deal to most, but time is the most precious resource in the teaching world. These kids depend on you to teach them prepare them for upcoming assessments. Since this was an unplanned absence it was even worse because I did not have the lesson laid out for the sub to do for me! However, come Tuesday morning when I walked in and read the sub's note about how pleasant my class was to teach, it made me feel so much more relaxed. I did it. I survived missing my first day of work. But more importantly, my kiddos were fine and the substitute did a great job with the resources and instructions I left. Usually Friday is assessment day, and I feel like the kids are still well prepared to take their tests tomorrow. Most importantly, I was so proud of their behavior while I was out <3
This is experience is going to make it easier when I have to take another day and a half off this month. The full day is for professional development, and the half day for Gabriella's 1 year doctors appointment!
